A Lamp Made By The Artist For His Wife (Sixtieth Attempt), 2015
Sooden dinghy oar, 20l jerry can, 5l detergent container, wooden shape (function unknown), crystal glass decoration and various electrical components
Each one of Gander's lamps is assembled from elements that can appear entirely unsuitable for this function but cohere in unexpected ways to create touching sculptures that are functional lamps.
A Lamp Made By The Artist For His Wife (Sixty Third Attempt), 2015
Mechanic’s inspection lamp, house brick, bungee cables, tennis ball, electrical cable, bulb, electrical fixtures and fittings
The notion of the homemade doubles as lyrical evocations of the power of imagination and as playful interrogation of what may constitute a work of art.
