Each one of Gander's lamps is assembled from elements that can appear entirely unsuitable for this function but cohere in unexpected ways to create touching sculptures that are functional lamps. The notion of the homemade doubles as lyrical evocations of the power of imagination and as playful interrogation of what may constitute a work of art.
