Introduction

The exhibition and work The Komputer King consists of digitally processed sound components, some of which are downloaded from the internet. These include voices, artificial noises, soundtracks, muzak, sampling effects and other environmental sound segments.

These polyvalent sounds are transmitted from a case in which hardware components, including a Mac notebook from the architectural department of the MIT (Massachusetts Institute for Technology) operate.

From the digital source, 4 directional loudspeakers are controlled via a professional 4-channel amplifier suspended on the wall, from where lines of sound divide the room into semantic zones using the "random principle”. Due to their acoustic orientation however, these zones are permeable and interpret each other as an associative "ambient-piece".

A film spotlight equipped with a blue filter also virtualizes the room, creating a distinct atmosphere.  

The Komputer King reacts to the increasingly dominant social situation of computer culture with an acoustic image "the structure of the silence of repression". It also spatializes in an acoustic way the logic of current information systems such as the internet and other multitasking forms of media.
