Introduction

ROTATION 

This is the name of an exhibition project with art by art critics. The cliché that "every art critic is actually also an artist" is to be taken literally and the physicality of art is to be addressed by art critics. 

This exhibition serves to explore the diverse and complicated relationships between those who make art and those who criticize, describe or discuss it. Much has already been said about the power of art criticism, including how art critics co-determine, manipulate and choose to present, or not, the presence or absence of an artist in public space. 

With our exhibition on art by art critics, we want to make art rotate. The ROTATION will create a visual panorama from which contemporary attitudes, opinions and theories about art can be read in parallel to the written essays, reviews and reports of art critics. 

Both art from the past and work produced especially for this exhibition project may be submitted. Any transport costs incurred will be financed by donations from artists and gallery owners. 

ROTATION is a project to expand the written expression and judgement of contemporary art. 

ROTATION is to be understood as an art magazine. The first issue will be a 'special edition' about art that has arisen from art covered by art critics. 

The exhibition ROTATION will be accompanied by a publication.
