Introduction
The Kiruna Psycho Laboratory (KPL) contains instruments which, in a general way, change our perception of the world. Based on the idea that the world as perceived by human beings is embedded in other conditions unknown and not accessible to us, the instruments gathered in the KPL are supposed to expand our conscience and thus our perception of the world. The aim is not to explore that unknown 'parallel' world, but to accept the unknown, the inexpressible. The instruments stir up doubts and make us question what we see and what we believe to know. They are to make us question the nature of phenomenons and to give room to the awkward feeling of uncertainty.
The KPL is not supposed to exchange one system of values for another - it aims at dissociating from certainty and the adaption of habits.
Until now, there is no location for the KPL, but one possibility would be the installation of a laboratory in the mines of Kiruna, the largest in the world, situated in the Swedish part of Lapland. A list of facilities planned for the KPL at the moment is only a provisional one: light wall, psycho tank, giant psycho tank, room of perfect silence, room of acoustic substraction, swirling room/room of dizziness, room of visual illusions, medication and drug closet, shooting range, kitchen, discotheque, stage, electro-stimulating installation, neuro surgical operating theatre, library.
Staff: electrician, anaesthesist, highlife-band, cook, neurosurgeon, technician, guide, tailor.
