Istanbul Biennale with Liam Gillick

Liam Gillick Hydrodynamica Applied, 2015 “The Bernoulli effect” is the lowering of pressure where flow velocity is increased. Bernoulli’s theorem is applied to flight, movement and liquid flow. In applied form the equation should be installed as large as possible and applied directly to a wall. The work is a direct transcription of the equation, functioning within the universal language of mathematics. The work is to be installed on the exterior wall of the Istanbul Modern. Directly facing the Bosphorus Strait, the equation functions as a reminder that increased flow of ideas, people and objects does not necessarily create more pressure. Photo © Sahir Uğur Eren
