Introduction
For Breathing Lines, Daniel Steegmann Mangrané's first solo exhibition in Norway at the Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum in Tromsø, the artist transforms the museum space through architectural, light, and sound interventions. Located in the far north of Norway/Sápmi, Tromsø is well inside the Arctic Circle. Furthermore the exhibition will span from Autumn to Spring Equinoxes. Light changes generated daily by the earth's rotation and translation movements will have a strong impact on the light conditions of the museum's interior space, completely transforming the show and its experience along the coming months.
As the artist points out, "the museum space can no longer be a space for the accumulation of artefacts, isolated and protected from the outside world, but rather a place where our relationship with objects and reality is transformed". By bringing space, light and sound together in an evolving choreography, he creates an exhibition that challenges and invites us to redefine our perception of the natural and cultural worlds.
In the context of a chain of social, political, economic and health crises, this exhibition opens a poetic space for reflection on the essential interconnectedness of every human being with the world around them, a consideration that stands as essential in our time.
