This untitled work from the 1980s is typical of his work of this period and combines a thick shag-like base with winding cords in gradient pastel and earth tones. The tapestry is a multimedia piece, incorporating wool as well as organic fibers such as sisal and natural pigments, which he collected throughout his travels across Brazil. As one approaches the piece, the first experience of it is smell—a light musk created by the combination of fibers—followed by the impulse to touch the carefully knotted threads that form the downy basis for the piece.
