Roman Ondak Zone, 2010
Functional oversized cloakroom, 100 coat racks, 1600 number tags, wooden counter, two performers
Overall dimensions: 170 x 1050 x 1700 cm
Zone consists of physical installation and a performance script. At first inconspicuous, the work looks like a large coat check. A long vintage wooden counter runs across the exhibition space. Behind it, there are simple metal coat racks with numbers hanging on their hooks. The entire spatial scenario appears like typical cloakrooms in public buildings such as museums, hospitals, schools etc. The installation is activated by a few performers who take the role of attendants responsible for taking visitors’ coats and bags, and giving them a metal numbered chip.
