Event Horizon, 2016
Oak tree, stamped ink, acrylic paint, steel fixtures. 100 wooden discs are placed, one by one, on consecutive days, on corresponding pegs on the wall. Each disk has one delineation of its growth rings contoured with ink. A name of a historical event, chosen by the artist (for example, the end of the First World War) is stamped next to it, joining the history of humanity with the development staged of the oak tree.
At the center of the space is the original marquetry floor panel designed for the South London Gallery by Walter Crane for the gallery’s official opening in 1891, and unveiled by Roman Ondak on the occasion of his exhibition.
