Prabhavathi Meppayil seventy twenty four, 2024
Polishing stones and pigmented gesso panels
30 parts
147,3 x 119,3 cm
Consisting of 30 elements mounted in a loose grid directly on the wall, Prabhavathi Meppayil's seventy twenty four is an abstract composition in color and form.
The work is constructed from polishing stones, assembled in various constellations—from single rectangular blocks to modular shapes consisting of 2 up to 8 individual stones. In the center, two gessoed panels—one yellow, one green—constitute contrasts of color and texture, while also making felt the presence of painting among the more sculptural found objects. Together the colorful elements mold the white space between them, as the wall becomes an integral part of the work.
