In Meppayil’s earlier works, gold wire is not embedded in gesso, but rather, extends outwards from the panel. In One Ten, wires thrust out from a grid of small, tightly aligned holes in the panel. The pattern is arranged in the middle of the painting and underlines the square form of the grid.
