In 2003 German’s women’s national soccer team for the first time won the World Championship and also were elected Germany's Sports Team of the Year. The team was scanned in a conference center in Siegen in September 2005 before a training session. Karin Sander is one of the first artists to apply 3D scanning and printing technology to figurative sculpture making, which she began experimenting with in the early 2000s.
