Philippe Parreno Blind Lamps, 2024
Blind Lamps belongs to a new body of work conceived by Philippe Parreno for his solo exhibition at Haus der Kunst in Munich. Suspended from the ceiling of the exhibition, this new series of 25 lamps comprises hand-blown black glass globes housing infrared bulbs which increase and decrease in a light program. In full brightness, one feels warmth underneath the lamp. The programming at the Haus der Kunst responds to the outdoor temperature. Individual lamps will be reprogrammed and individualized prior to the delivery to the owner. All proceeds from the purchase of an edition of Philippe Parreno’s new series, Blind Lamps, will go to support Philippe Parreno. Voices.
The exhibition Philippe Parreno. Voices elaborates on the artist’s long-term approach to the oscillation of reality and the fluid nature of being. Parreno will transform the spaces of Haus der Kunst into a science fiction landscape in constant flux, where visitors can sense the imminent arrival of something that is not yet present within the galleries. Parreno’s new organism acquires its form through temperature shifts, light, moving image, and the language as its communicating medium within our realm.
