The work shows a large pear-shaped leaf with a thick layer of thin reddish-beige brisles on an underlying sheet of thin rice paper. Although the surfaces of the leaf and of the rice paper at first appear raised and three dimensional, the image has been produced using a very high definition scan and is scaled to be larger. Because of this increase in size and the extremely high resolution, it becomes possible to see details beyond what the human eye can normally perceive or what a lens-based process can capture.
