Amber dice, flies, 2 programmed LED masks
Dice: 19 x 19 x 19 mm
Mask: 26 x 16 x 15 cm each
A dice carved from a piece of amber contains two mating insects caught and interrupted at the moment of reproduction millions of years ago. Living descendants of these insects are flying in their thousands in a space. A woman and a man wearing masks of light that attract the insects are playing with the dice. The patterns of flashes exchanged between the masks follow instinctive behaviours, sequences of bioluminescence, that insects emit prior to copulation.
