Steel balls, anodized aluminum, laminated wood, stainless steel, painted MDF, electric actuator, limit switches, control unit, power source
60 x 300 x 30 cm
Tens of thousands of small stainless-steel balls roll slowly back and forth on a long and narrow aluminum surface which tilts gently back and forth on top of a painted mdf-pedestal. The tilting is caused by an electric jack inside the pedestal, controlled by limit switches and a timer module. The movements of the steel balls cause create constantly shifting kinetic patterns on top of the surface. The sound which this generates somewhat resembles that of waves hitting a shore and fills the entire space.
