Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster Riyo, 1999
35 mm film (color, stereo sound, Japanese with English subtitles, format 4:3)
Duration: 10:00 minutes
The film was shot in Kyoto, at the bank of the Kamo River between Shijo Bridge and Sanjo Bridge. The telephone conversation of a young couple makes the urban backdrop — an anonymous big-city architecture during sunset — appear as the biographical site of encounter and flirting. The urban landscape presents itself through the dialogue of the two youths with all its multiple backgrounds.
