Jean-Pascal Flavien The house was not planned that way, 2014
Painted aluminum, metal, wood
120 x 120 x 17 cm
The abstracted shapes were first developed in context with Jean Pascal Flavien’s 2015 statement house, first built in London, as part of a group exhibition at the Royal College of Art. Colored planes or ‘plans’ similar to the footprint of the house — a square with cut corners and a hole — they function in turn as aesthetic adornments and as useful tools, doubling as shutters for the windows, trays, or separators.
