Angela Bulloch Anima Mary, 2016
Corian, LED DMX Module, printed aluminium, DMX controller, screws, cables
204 x 81 x 50 cm
Suitable for indoor installation, Anima Mary is a sculpture assembled from four irregular rhombic shapes made from Corian. One of the modular elements is illuminated, cycling through a program of looped color sequences. The basic sequence of the animation for Anima Mary are six colors appearing in this order: yellow, red, bright red, Venetian red, clay, and white.
The work combines the modular geometric elements forming upright sculptures with the programmed illumination characteristic of Bulloch's series of Pixel boxes begun in 2001. Conceived and designed within a digital imaging program, the geometrical shapes of each module are distinct, whilst at the same time relating to the others.
