Made from black cold cast bronze, In the very beginning, before words, there were… consists of a collection of elements that resemble rocks, logs and sticks. Similar to the materials needed for an outdoor fire, the bronze elements can be placed to construct such a campfire site. Each time the work is exhibited the constellation can be determined by owner, curator or installer from the stock pile of materials. The elements not used can be installed alongside. At the same time, the black color of the objects, suggests a fire may have already scorched them, adding the evocation of ruins or the remnants of past inhabitants.
