Works from Thomias Radin's series of Domino can be seen as a symbolic representation of the importance of intergenerational knowledge and understanding between one’s elders and the new generation, an idea significant to the artist's poetics. The wooden panels, painted in various colors with the distinctive pattern of depressions indicating their value, resemble oversized dominoes. A tribute to everyday life in Guadeloupe, the tiles remind us, no matter our age, of the games played by people throughout their lifetime and how knowledge can be transmitted and lasting connections forged through these experiences. Although deceptively simple in its rules, to play dominoes well requires both mathematical skills and cunning strategy.
