Thomias Radin Embryon, 2024
116.8 x 86.5 x 5.x cm (framed)
Thomias Radin's Embryon draws on matriarchal themes found across the artist's practice. Comprised of oil on linen and set in a hand-carved wooden frame with appliques, this work references Radin’s exploration of the mother. The main imagery is rudimentary vignette, the shape of which resembles the silhouette of a mother’s womb which protects and at the same time nurtures the origin of movement. The hand carved wooden frame represents the three-dimensionality Radin searches for in his compositions. Sides gems to continue the narration outside the ordinary physical limits of a painting, thereby praising the mother for the creation of movement.
