Annette Kelm Bronze, 2023
The work Bronze depicts what appears to be a bronze object made of two discs welded together. It is unclear what the object is and whether it has or had a function. Placed vertically in front, leaning against the discs, are three dried plant leaves, and again it is unclear whether they are real leaves or made of paper. The composition of these objects is set against a collage-like two-tone background of pale green and green. Clearly positioned within the genres of still life and studio photography, the composition employs simple shapes and economical means to suggest a range of associations.
