Allium is a work from Annette Kelm’s series of floral still-lifes. The work depicts an arrangement of allium flowers together with safflowers standing upright in a metal spring. In the foreground sits a small copper spring with a square metal part. In the background, blue and yellow paper sheets of various sizes are arranged. A characteristic of these works is the tension between organic materials and human-made objects, set against backgrounds that appear at the same time casually arranged and deliberately composed.
