Spider Plant is a work from Annette Kelm’s series of floral still-life arrangements. The work depicts a so-called spider plant placed on an upside down glass vase next to delicate decorative flowers arranged in a metal spring. The background is a composition of orange and pink color papers and creates the impression of a studio shot. Integrating objects and flowers, the compositions include deliberate formal inconsistencies in the alignment of the bright paper backgrounds, drawing attention to the act of arranging the motifs.
