Anicka Yi's sculpture consists of synthetic leather made from Kombucha yeast and bacteria, splayed and hung from metal lab stands.

Kombucha leather is a popular sustainable biomaterial created from the bacterial cultures in kombucha tea, which form a cellulose-based "leather" through fermentation. This process involves a SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast), which facilitates the fermentation.
