Tomasz Kręcicki Silence now, 2024
180 x 220 cm
Silence now emphasizes the visceral, multisensory aspect of Kręcicki’s painted world. The work features a yellow surface that suggests a wall, in a way, anticipating its own installation: hanging from a nail in the hole being drilled by the depicted drill bit. The delicate faultlines drawn in the yellow surface surrounding the bit allow us not only to hear the noise but also to intuit the anxious anticipation of greater disaster. In this sense, Kręcicki's works playfully combine references to familiar activities and mundane objects with allusions to a generalized unease and larger social issues.
