Cemile Sahin's work draws on her ongoing research into the history and repercussions of two treaties, The Treaty of Sèvres, 1920 and The Treaty of Lausanne, 1923, both of which significantly shaped modern Turkey.
The imagery was developed in conjunction with her 2023 video The Rifle in the Closet which highlights the Swiss involvement in arms manufacturing, more specifically, Lausanne's position as contemporary center for the development, manufacture, and trade of drone technology.
Using video simulations employed by the Swiss military for training exercises as points of reference, Sahin worked in dialogue with an artificial intelligence program to create images that mimic the style of these materials.
