Rosa Barba This Space Populated by Infinite Colors, 2021
Handblown glass, wood
248 x 56 x 54 cm
Conceived for Rosa Barba's solo exhibition at Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, This Space Populated by Infinite Colors (2021) consists of 16 hand-blown glass plates in all shades of the red color spectrum inserted flush in a wooden shelf fixed to the wall. The work highlights Rosa Barba‘s interest in astronomy, as well as her engagement within the medium of film through a sculptural approach. Indeed, these glass color filters are traditionally used for both the observation of celestial bodies and the making of films (Lee filters placed in front a camera lens).
