Florin Mitroi Atropos, 13.IV.1988, 1988
39,4 x 33,8 x 1,7 cm
The work depicts Atropos, one of the three Moirai or goddesses of fate and destiny – with Clotho and Lachesis – here represented as a naked woman holding a scythe. In Greek mythology, the Moirai personified the inescapable destiny of man.
This work is part of a series of tempera paintings on reverted glass, a technique traditionally used in Romanian icon-making since the late 17th century.
